Mockery's News

Ahoy again fellow Newgrounds pals!

It's time once again to unleash Abobo (and ourselves) upon hordes of attendees at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. This will be I-Mockery's fourth time as an exhibitor and we're gonna have more new stuff than ever before! Be sure to pay us a visit if you're coming to Comic-Con as we'll be at Booth # E-10 - located on the far West side of the convention center near aisles 600 & 700. This year we'll have the following on hand:

-For the first time ever, the completed, full version of our Abobo's Big Adventure game (including a special 2-player battle mode) will be available to play for free on a custom Abobo arcade cabinet! We'll have all the levels unlocked, so you can use the level-select screen and play any one you like! This is our way of celebrating the completion of a HUGE flash game project that started a decade ago, so we hope you can join in the fun!

-Exclusive, limited edition "brutal blue" and "ragey red" Abobo's Big Adventure t-shirts with all original artwork made by Newgrounds very own Jeff Bandelin. (Thanks Jeff!)

-Free Abobo masks for anybody who purchases a t-shirt! (while supplies last)

-A giant Abobo waiting to pose with you for a very special photo opportunity (aka: your face getting caved in by his angry fist)

-A brand new surprise "glow-in-the-dark" I-Mockery t-shirt that will be unveiled for the first time ever at Comic-Con!

-The unveiling of our new 8-bit spring-themed pixel poster which will soon be appearing in the Crazy4Cult art show. This will be the first time anybody will see the completed pox-tastic "Four Seasons of Pixels" series together! These four posters will make your eyes bleed pixelated rainbows of joy.

-I-Mockery Button Packs!

-I-Mockery Magnets & Stickers!

-PickleMan comic books! Protoclown's comic books! Strangepuppets comic books!

-Free ultra-gory "Dinosaur's Attack" vintage trading card packs from the eighties with every purchase! (this site is old as a dinosaur, so why not?)

-Free stickers for people who manage to defeat one of the big bosses in our Abobo game!

-Information on how to attend a free, live Tournament of Nerds performance on Saturday evening in San Diego featuring yours truly and many other funny web geeks!

-All new videos from my Youtube channel and more!

It's gonna be a blast and Pestoforce will be there with me to showcase our upcoming game, so if you're going to the convention, be sure to stop by Booth # E10 (located on the far West side of the convention center near aisles 600 & 700). Don't be shy, come say hi and maybe we'll say hi back... or punch you in the throat. But hey, a throat-punch counts as an autograph in many cultures, so if you get punched, consider yourself lucky.

Looking forward to seeing all our chums from Newgrounds once again. Just make sure you don't come all at once, because that could get a bit crowded.

I heard there may be a Newgrounds meet-up in LA sometime. Anybody know details about it yet?

Yo ho ho, Newgrounds chums!

Pox and I just did a two-part interview with The-Great-One about our work in Flash. I'm a wordy bastard by nature, so get ready to do some reading! Thanks go out to J-Rex for suggesting that the two of us be interviewed together.

In other news, I'm one of the judges for the Best Game of 2010 here on Newgrounds and I gotta say, the selections this year were awesome. Regardless of the outcome, I want to extend my congrats to all the nominees on making some fantastic new games.

That said, I don't think we even need to have a vote for the best game of 2011; we already know who the winner is going to be, right? Right. Ok good... glad to hear that's settled.

Last but not least, we've been making some really good progress on Abobo's Big Adventure lately and I want to thank all of the people who participated in our first beta test. We received a lot of great feedback on the level that was tested and made some crucial fixes to it so things were more balanced. Currently, we're working on a few different levels and I'm extremely excited about them because the boss fights and cutscenes are absolutely badass. Really hoping to have the game wrapped up by Comic-Con (or at least have all of the levels & boss fights completed by then so we can test the hell out of it during the convention).

Speaking of testing, we will be holding online beta tests for other levels in the future, so be sure to head over to abobosbigadventure.com and sign up to be a tester if you haven't already! Also, be sure to follow Abobo's Big Adventure on Facebook too. After all, you wouldn't want to make Abobo angry, would you? Didn't think so.

New interview, Best 2010 Game judging and more Abobo's Big Adventure progress!

Ahoy there fellow Newgrounders!

Myself and poxpower have a client who wants us to make a Flash game for them, and we're all about making that happen because it should be a fun project. We'll be handling the art, animation and sound work, but we need an experienced programmer who can help us put this project together.

The Flash game would be based on the classic arcade game "Paperboy", so I would suggest taking a look at that game if you're not already familiar with it to make sure you can handling coding something like that no problemo. It would have a high scores table and possibly different difficulty settings. Here's a video of Paperboy in action for those of you who've never played it.

For anybody interested, we would like to see some links to games you've already created. I'm sure it goes without saying, but we need somebody who can meet deadlines and not drag their feet on this project once it starts.

And yes, this is a paying gig, so we're open to hearing what kind of fee you would charge to code a classic style game of this nature. Keep in mind, if this project goes well, it's likely we'll be doing more of these, so there will be potential for more work for you if you like.

If you're interested, please send me a PM.

Thanks!
